Students Experience the “Race Team of the Future” STEM Event at Brands Hatch

Students from Knole Academy, Gravesend Grammar, Saint George’s C of E School and Alkerden C of E Academy recently took part in an unforgettable STEM experience at Brands Hatch as part of the inspiring Race Team of the Future programme, delivered in partnership with HP, Intel and Probrand.

The collaboration aimed to provide students with a unique opportunity to explore the exciting world of motorsport while showcasing the wide range of career opportunities available within the industry. Through an engaging and immersive experience, students were introduced to the vital role that STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) plays behind the scenes in professional motorsport.

Delivered by the MBP team alongside Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport, the event welcomed 60 students for a thrilling day designed to educate, inspire and build confidence through hands-on learning.

Throughout the day, students rotated through a variety of interactive activities and stations, many of which relied heavily on STEM technology and innovation. Experiences included virtual racing simulators, guided garage tours, interactive car design sessions, safety exercises, teamwork challenges and character-building activities. Students were able to see first-hand how technology, engineering and strategy combine to support a professional race team both on and off the track.

The event not only provided an exciting insight into motorsport careers but also encouraged students to think creatively, solve problems collaboratively and consider future pathways within STEM industries.

A huge congratulations goes to the Orange Team from Gravesend Grammar, who were crowned the winners of the Race Team of the Future challenge. Their fantastic teamwork, innovation and determination earned them tickets to the final Brands Hatch race of the 2026 season — an incredible prize and well-deserved achievement.

The success of the day was made possible through the generous support and collaboration of HP, Intel, Probrand and Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport, whose commitment to inspiring the next generation of STEM talent created a truly memorable experience for all involved.
