World Book Day 2026

World Book Day is a special moment in the school calendar where stories leap from the page, and imagination takes centre stage. Across the Aletheia Academies Trust, our primary schools, and even some of our secondary phases, embraced the spirit of the day, bringing books to life through creativity, celebration, and a shared love of reading.

From the moment pupils arrived through the school gates, it was clear that this was no ordinary day. Corridors and classrooms were filled with an array of colourful costumes as children proudly transformed into their favourite literary characters. From classic heroes and magical creatures to beloved storybook icons, pupils celebrated the characters that have inspired their reading journeys.

Many schools hosted lively costume parades, giving pupils the opportunity to showcase their outfits while sharing the stories behind them. These moments were filled with laughter, excitement, and plenty of applause as the school communities gathered together to celebrate their love of books.

The celebrations extended beyond costumes. Throughout the day, classrooms buzzed with storytelling, reading activities, and creative learning inspired by literature. In one of the schools, the pupils sang a song about their love of reading, while others explored new books, shared favourite passages, or took part in themed lessons that encouraged them to step into the worlds created by authors and illustrators.

World Book Day across Aletheia Academies Primary Schools was not only about dressing up, but it was also about recognising the powerful role that reading plays in education and development. Books open doors to imagination, creativity, and understanding, helping young minds explore new ideas, cultures, and perspectives.

By celebrating stories in such vibrant ways, our schools continue to nurture a lifelong love of reading. Whether through a costume parade, a shared story, or a classroom activity, World Book Day reminded us all that books have the power to inspire, connect, and transform learning.

Across the Trust, it was a day filled with joy, creativity, and imagination, proving once again that when stories come to life, learning becomes an adventure.
