Trust Speaking Competition Grand Final 2025

On Wednesday, 2nd July, finalists from across Aletheia Academies Trust gathered at Saint George’s Church of England School (Primary Phase) for the highly anticipated Grand Final of the Trust Speaking Competition. The event was a celebration of oracy, confidence, and the unique voices of our pupils.

Each finalist took to the stage to present a topic they had a personal passion for, ranging from global issues to personal experiences. The breadth and depth of topics were remarkable. Pupils shared presentations on climate change, the history of dinosaurs, and a beautifully delivered insight into Uganda, the ‘Pearl of Africa’.

Some pupils bravely shared personal journeys. One spoke about living with nail patella syndrome, while another recounted their experience of overcoming feelings of not belonging and how football helped them find confidence and community. These stories moved both audience members and judges alike and highlighted the power of oracy to inspire, connect, and advocate.

The panel of judges, Mr B Johnson (Trustee), Miss J Payne (Head of English at Saint George’s Secondary), and two head students from Saint George’s had the incredibly difficult task of choosing a winner. Every speech demonstrated outstanding preparation, courage, and voice.

After careful deliberation, Lottie from Ditton Church of England Junior School was crowned the overall winner with her passionate and compelling call to action to save animals. Her delivery, clarity, and heartfelt message made a lasting impression on everyone in the room.

A huge well done to all of our finalists, not just for the quality of your speeches, but for the authenticity and care you brought to the day. You represented your schools and yourselves with pride.

Thank you to all staff members and parents who supported pupils throughout the competition, and to everyone who helped organise the event. Special thanks to the judging panel for their thoughtful feedback and to Saint George’s Primary Phase once again for hosting this year’s final. This year’s competition showed just how powerful pupil voice can be, and we can’t wait to see what next year brings.
